Five Element Acupuncture is possibly the oldest style of medicine on the planet.
It is a style of Acupuncture and medicine based on the understanding that this world, nature, and us as a part of it, all consists of a balance of Five Elements, with every person having one dominant element .
This predominant element is called the Causative Factor, or Constitutional Type of each person. There are no set points for each person used in Five Element style treatments, rather, treatment is based on the underlying Causative Factor ,or Constitutional Type of each person, and Acupuncture points used are chosen accordingly. Some Traditional Acupuncture points are believed to more strongly help and affect the emotions, the mind, or the inner person, whilst others work more for the body.
For a classically trained professional Acupuncturist, every person has an Elemental type, based on the colours on the face, the sound of the voice, the odour or scent from that person, and their own psychology and this is used as the root of diagnosis and treatment planning.
T.C.M. is the commonly used abbreviation for Traditional Chinese Medicine, and is a powerful medical model, diagnostic and treatment tool.
T.C.M. style of treatment is very much based on analysing out an illness into a set of patterns of pathology or 'syndromes'. Every pattern clearly and precisely corresponds to particular clearly defined symptoms, and a corresponding pulse pattern or pulse quality. Once the syndromes have been identified, the priority for treatment is established and set acupuncture points are used for each pattern of dysfunction.
Chinese medicine reads the pulse on the radial artery, as does Western medicine, but in Oriental medicine we read and interpret 6 pulses on each wrist, 12 in total, with each pulse representing a particular organ and system. Pulse volumes are measured and noted, the weaker the pulse in a system, the lower the energy is in that system, and pulse qualities are also clearly noted. Chinese medicine recognises 28 pulse qualities, including obvious ones such as too fast, or too slow. We also have clearly defined and recognisable pulses such as choppy, wiry, leather, hidden, knotted, deep, slippery etc. Each and every one of these pulses has particular significance and they all inform the treatment strategy and reflect the progress of the patient.
EFT , otherwise known as Emotional Freedom Technique, is a fast, powerful way to help all kinds of limiting beliefs or trauma.
EFT is also called “Tapping”, as we are tapping on Acupuncture points during an EFT session - hence the name tapping!
Clinical trials, including those by such organisations as Harvard, have demonstrated that EFT is able to rapidly reduce emotional distress from such things as bad and painful memories, traumatic incidents which are locked in to us, and which have continued to perpetuate a state of distress ever since, even though the incidents may have been a long time ago .
Even though we don't completely understand yet how EFT works, to date, over 100 clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy.
Susan uses professional EFT techniques, custom made for each individual, different for each person, and all different problems.
