TCM is the commonly used abbreviation for Traditional Chinese Medicine.
A TCM diagnosis is very in depth, your clinician should be asking lots of questions, gathering information about every system in the body, and reading 12 pulses (6 on each wrist), plus reading the tongue - they are all different and reflect just what is going on in the body and its systems. This then gives a very clear picture about exactly what we need to work on to restore harmony and balance, hopefully to both the body and emotions of the patient.
If you think all tongues are the same - think again!
they can be;
All this is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine Diagnosis .
Chinese Medical professionals read 12 pulses in total, on both wrists, 6 on each wrist, all on the radial artery.
There are 28 pulse qualities , and the volume of every pulse is measured too.
Each pulse corresponds to one of the 12 major systems in the body, and is a vital part of initial diagnosis, and should be checked every treatment to see how the patient is improving and update our treatment plan.
Susan Nelson-Sheldon is qualified in both TCM and Five Element, using both in the majority of her treatment strategies, as she finds this often gives the best result for her patients.
